Obama Castigates His Base (Again)

As usual, his anger is reserved largely for members of his own base who expected him actually to adhere to the principles we heard him enunciate as he campaigned.

With the Republican right, he's willing to negotiate and cut deals.  With fellow Democrats for whom certain core principles (e.g., don't sell out the poor, don't favor the rich) are the moral compass of political decision-making, he's disdainful.  Angry.

And the centrist talk of principles as "idealistic" and not adaptable to real-world politics: it merely echoes the obscene, self-serving rhetoric of the beltway media, who never miss an opportunity to beat up on anyone to the left of, say, John McCain.
