Dispatch from the Front: Maggie Gallagher Notes Majority Support for Same-Sex Marriage Among Youth

NOM's Maggie Gallagher loves to natter on--and on--about how the rights of gay human beings ought to be up for grabs through popular vote.  Let the majority rule, Maggie insists, when the majority agrees with her.

But now Maggie's defending a homophobic California beauty queen, who quotes Leviticus to suggest that gays should be put to death, by noting that 45% of Californians aged 18-29 voted to remove the right of marriage from gay citizens with proposition 8.

Never seeming to realize that what she's really reminding us of is the fact that 55% of Californians aged 18-29 voted to protect the right of marriage for gay citizens of California.

Curious, isn't it?  Defending gay bashing by a minority of citizens, while claiming that you're all about safeguarding the rights of the majority?

Maggie also loves to claim that Catholics--no qualification, just Catholics, all Catholics--oppose same-sex marriage.  Yet poll results just released by the Knights of Columbus--no fans of gay people or gay marriage--shows that 63% of Catholics aged 18-29 support gay marriage, as opposed to 53 percent of all Americans in that age bracket.

Interesting, isn't it?  If young people, to whom the future of this nation belongs--not to Maggie--voted today on the issue of same-sex marriage, it would be legalized across the land.  With strong support from Catholic Millennials.

Seems like Maggie is playing fast and free with the future of today's young Americans, doesn't it, in her completely undemocratic and anti-Catholic attempt to demonize, humiliate, and oppress gay persons?

So much for safeguarding the wishes of the majority.  So much for the future, particularly the future of those young folks that Maggie constantly insists are her primary concern.
